It’s officially summer, which means bikinis, daisy-dukes, sundresses, and other effortless wardrobe staples. I thought it would be fun to share some of my favorite style icons to celebrate the season and how you can emulate their iconic summer looks. My favorites for this summer are Ursula Andress, Jessica Simpson, Jane Birkin, Jackie Kennedy Onnasis, and Brigitte Bardot. You can read about the summer style icons below, but first make sure to click through the photo gallery above to see the style icons along with the looks you can wear today to replicate these classic summer staples. ↑
Ursula Andress is one of my favorite summer style icons, particularly because of her infamous bikini scene from a James Bond movie she starred in. She looked flawless coming out of the water with wet hair and her body is killer. If only we all could look so incredible with wet hair. I found a similar style bikini from ASOS so you can replicate Ursula’s timeless summer look.
People may have their opinions about Jessica Simpson- good or bad- but there is no question she looked incredible rocking a pair of jean shorts in the remake of “Dukes of Hazzard”. Daisy Duke jean shorts are a timeless summer staple and Jessica Simpson definitely did a great job showing them off with her toned legs and gorgeous hair. I found a pair of daisy duke shorts I’ve had my eye on for a while from Revolve.
There is no question that Jane Birkin is a timeless style icon- I mean, she has an Hermès bag named after her, the Birkin Bag. But Jane also had impeccable summer style back in the 1970s. Many of the styles she rocked are back in style today. I am obsessed with her crochet drop neckline dress she wore back in 1969. I found a modern day replica that can be worn as a beach cover-up, check it out here.
Jackie Kennedy Onnasis
There was no way I would not put Jackie Kennedy Onnasis as a summer style icon. Her preppy style was alway impeccable and in the summer, she also looked Hamptons ready. I personally love this white shift dress she was pictured wearing in 1969. It’s classy and sophisticated but breezy enough for a summer night out. I found a similar dress to Jackie O’s from Lilly Pulitzer, who is known to have used Jackie O as a muse for her own fashion line.
Last, but certainly not least, is Brigitte Bardot. Brigitte is one of my all time favorite style icons and many of her bombshell looks are still on trend today. Gingham is the print of the summer and Bardot is notorious for the rocking gingham print back in the 1950s and 1960s. I found an almost identical pair of gingham shorts to the ones Bardot is pictured in above from Revolve. Get your hands on them now and participate in the gingham craze this summer.
Thanks for reading and just a reminder that all these looks and their modern day replicas can be found in the photo gallery at the top of the page. Hope everyone is having a great summer. ♥♥
