The Bachelor has finally returned- after a long, agonizing 5 months of anticipation. Arie Luyendyk Jr. now has his chance to find love as The Bachelor, years after being left broken-hearted by Emily Maynard, The Bachelorette in 2012. Many bachelor fans found Arie to be a surprising choice- he has not been in The Bachelor/Bachelorette spotlight for several years. However, Arie has always been on the producers’ minds as a potential candidate for the show. And with last season’s lack of suitable candidates from Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette, Arie seems like the perfect choice for The Bachelor.
Arie’s Past on The Bachelorette
If you watched Emily’s season of The Bachelorette, you might recall that Arie was known as “The Kissing Bandit”. This is because Arie and Emily had a fierce chemistry and was the season’s front-runner from the start. Sadly, Arie was ultimately left broken-hearted as the runner-up when Emily chose to give Jef Holm her final rose and the two became engaged. Unfortunately, Emily and Jef ended their engagement months later. Meanwhile, Arie has not returned to any Bachelor spin-off shows, making him feel like a fresh face with little bachelor reality TV baggage.
Arie Gets His Chance as The Bachelor
This week’s first episode of The Bachelor was filled with beautiful dresses, long blonde hair extensions, tears, champagne, and drama. We saw 30 stunning bachelorettes enter The Bachelor Mansion in hopes of meeting their future husband, Arie. The group of ladies tried their best to make a memorable first impression to earn a rose and secure a spot in The Bachelor Mansion. From the first episode, it is clear there will most definitely be a villain- Chelsea, a 29 year old single mother from Maine. She aggressively stole Arie away after already having alone time with him and stole a make-out from the kissing bandit. Chelsea was the lucky recipient of The First Impression Rose, clearly causing tension in the house between the other ladies. The first 21 roses were given out as followed:
PS. I found all their instagram accounts 🙂
- Chelsea (first impression rose)
- Becca K.
- Lauren G.
- Bekah M.
- Lauren S.
- Brittany T.
- Lauren B.
Unfortunately, several ladies were eliminated and their dreams of falling in love with The Bachelor are over. However, thanks to the spin-off shows, rejected contestants can still get their fifteen minutes of fame.
Predictions For Next Episode
Arie gave his first impression rose to Chelsea, the season’s early villain. He also has his eyes on several other of the ladies- I’m thinking his front-runners are Bekah M., Krystal, Caroline, Sienne, and Tia. I refuse to look at RealitySteve, so I will continue to watch this season in anticipation. For a full profile on all the ladies this season, check out ABC’s bios of all the contestants. Once the show begins to narrow down the contestants, I’ll be able to go more into detail on each of them. Looking forward to next week’s episode and a hopefully drama-filled season with a happy ending.
Until next week!
